Arab teen suspected of 'Internet terror'

I don’t think that “terror” is the way I would describe having my website attacked. It’s not like I would have to fear for my life.

It is very strange to me that the Israeli government and the Jerusalem Post would call armed arabs who are intent upon the death of Jewish citizens “militants,” but a punk kid arab who attacks websites a “terrorist.”

Of course, they always call Jews defending their land “terrorists.”

A 17-year-old from the Arab village of Kfar Karah, in Wadi Ara, was arrested overnight Monday on suspicion of hacking into and sabotaging thousands of Web sites, police said.

The suspect allegedly wrecked sites belonging to the Likud Party, Maccabi Tel Aviv,
shopping sites and sites used as servers by various other companies.

The Northern District Police's fraud division is set to request a five-day remand extension for the suspected hacker on Tuesday.

Police described the alleged offenses as "Internet terror," accusing the teen of working with several associates from Turkey and Saudi Arabia to specifically ruin Israeli Web sites. As yet, it is unclear if government sites were affected.

Last year, pro-Palestinian hackers shut down approximately 700 Israeli Web domains.
A range of different Web sites were targeted, including Web sites of banks, medical centers, car manufacturers and pension funds.

Well-known companies and organizations, including Bank Hapoalim, the Rambam Medical Center, Bank Otsar Ha-Hayal, BMW Israel, Subaru Israel and Citroen Israel, real estate company Tarbut-Hadiur and the Jump fashion Web site all found their Web sites shut down and replaced by the message: "Hacked by Team-Evil Arab hackers u KILL palestin people we KILL Israel servers."
