Three Sisters Murdered in Gaza ‘Honor’ Killing

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/130385

(IsraelNN.com) A group of anonymous men dumped three bodies in Dir El-Balah in central Gaza on Sunday and attempted to bury them in a shallow grave. Medical sources confirmed that the bodies were those of three sisters, ages 16, 19, and 22, who died of multiple stab wounds and were apparently strangled as well.

Gaza human rights groups said the murders were apparently “honor killings,” in which women are killed for supposedly dishonoring their family name by engaging in behavior seen as inappropriate by their society. One of the sisters was married and lived in Dir El-Balah, while the other two were single and lived in Gaza City. Local Hamas security forces said they would investigate the killings, but members of women’s rights groups were skeptical, saying that police rarely take “honor” killings seriously.
