Hezbollah Threatens Israel Anywhere in the World in Response to Mughniyeh Killing

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued an alert today as the chief of Hezbollah vowed to retaliate against Israeli targets anywhere in the world. He accused Israel of killing the militant Imad Mughniyeh in Syria.

Today, Israel ordered its military, embassies and Jewish institutions overseas to go on alert, fearing revenge attacks for a car bomb that killed Mughniyeh - accused of masterminding dramatic and murderous terrorist attacks that killed hundreds of Americans, Israelis and Jews.

There is no known specific threat against New York, the United States or the Jewish community. The threat specifically targets Israeli entities. However, Hezbollah affiliates or homegrown terrorists might choose to strike a Jewish target. This is an appropriate time for all institutions to review their security procedures and to increase their vigilance.
